IVF

Whereas we do not provide IVF-ICSI or Sperm/Egg Donor IVF directly at our Beacon Clinic, if these services are required, we refer patients to our partner IVF clinics IVI London, Cube IVF Prague, Institut Marques Barcelona, IVF Alicante, Spain, to give objective independent advice, assessments and recommendations, and manage your care throughout.

We also provide Satellite Care for patients who have already started treatment at their own choice of International IVF clinics, where Dr. Ayers will review your treatment plan & discuss the next steps required for your local treatment care in Ireland with us during your IVF treatment, and convert your international prescription to a HSE high-tech prescription for your local pharmacy.

With exception to the actual IVF/fertility procedure on the days of egg collection and transfer which would take place at your recommended clinics, we provide the full service of scan monitoring, assessments and reporting, medication prescriptions, and final trigger instructions prior to your IVF- ICSI Treatment.

We provide regular updates to your clinic, travel letters, arrange the full range of blood tests, EU Virals, Cervical Screen, Mammogram and Semen Analysis where required.

We are Often Asked, What is the Difference between IVF & IVF-ICSI?

Most of our patients received ICSI under Dr. Ayers recommendation with your Clinic.

The key difference between IVF and ICSI is how the sperm fertilizes the egg. In IVF, the egg and sperm (of which there are many) are left in a laboratory dish to fertilize on their own. In ICSI, the selected sperm is directly injected into the egg.

ICSI yields satisfactory fertilization results and helps reduce problems with abnormal fertilization caused by eggs and sperm – such as fertilization by multiple sperm and the inability of the sperm to penetrate the eggs (ZP) and fertilize, etc.

For those with significant sperm problems, such as with high sperm DNA fragmentation, with a history of previous fertilization failure or with poor embryo quality, then ICSI is advised by Dr. Ayers.

Process

After the female partner has received ovarian stimulation about 9-14 days to acquire multiple good quality eggs, doctors will collect eggs. The eggs will be transferred to a culture media and kept in an incubator that controls temperature, humidity and the amounts of various gases ideal for egg growth for a period of time. After allowing the eggs to mature for the right amount of time, the embryologist will mix the mature eggs with healthy sperm which has been specially prepared and selected. Fertilization will be checked 16-18 hours later

Any blood tests/other assessments/procedures if required by Dr. Ayers will be charged separately, as per our price list on the website www.kafertility.ie or referred to our Partner Gynaecologists/Partner Clinics for fast-track appoitments & direct payment,  such as Mammograme USS, Hycosy, ERA, Covid Testing, Cervical Screening, with exception to Semen Analysis/DFI Testing which we provide at our Clinic.
